In the workshops, participants are introduced to the concept that art can tell their story and can be a lifelong learning tool to reduce pain and anxiety. Also the workshops strengthen Pennsylvania communities by bringing people together to engage in dialogue and to feel less isolated in their mental health struggles.

The workshop includes:

  • Conversations about mental health, community, education & healing through the visual arts.

  • Historical references to and learning about the symbolism of masks.

  • Thoughtful expression of “What mask do you wear to face or to portray life’s emotional challenges and obstacles?”

  • Articulating our stories through words, textures and symbols.

  • Manipulating clay to create a mask and choosing glaze colors to express our stories.

Workshops are for 5 or more people. Workshop attendees must be 12 or older.
