I’m fine. Project, a phrase we often say when we are not fine,
is a statewide community project dedicated to sculpting mental health awareness, conversations and support through art.
Initiated by Co-directors Carrie Breschi and Maureen Joyce in 2019, I’m fine.Project consists of a series of workshops where participants create ceramic masks that represent the outward “mask” each wears to portray, hide or minimize their emotions and mental health challenges. I’m fine. Projectparticipants have made over 2,040 masks so far.
Public art installations and gallery exhibits, like this one, showcase the amazing masks and meaningful stories of the participants.
“As artists, we believe in the power of art to ignite change, to increase awareness and
to create new perspectives.”
Co-directors: Maureen Joyce & Carrie Breschi
Patrick Joyce
The I’m fine. Project is dedicated to Maureen and Kevin Joyce’s son, Patrick, who died by suicide in 2018 after struggling with mental illness. The ginkgo leaf, which he often tucked in his pockets as a child, is incorporated into the I’m fine. Project logo as a tribute to Patrick.
